If you ask 14-year old Mimoza Duot what music means to her, she will tell you, "everything." And while it seems like a typical answer from a soon to be pop star, the simplicity of everything merely sums up the gravity of her gifts.

Young, melodic and poised, the Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) native is no stranger to the stage. At 5, she began vocal lessons and at 6 was a finalist in "Asian Idol." Mimoza would continue to win competition after competition including 2nd place in CKJS (Manitoba radio`s "Discover Talent" contest), Teen Champion in "Pinoy's Got Talent," and a slew of other community accolades such as Most Outstanding Voice, Best Performer, Entertainer of the Year, Outstanding Musicianship, Outstanding Musicianship, Outstanding Achievement Vocals, singing for the torch lighting in Winnipeg during the Vancouver Olympics...the list is endless. It would seem the budding singer was a veteran before her time. But she was just getting started.

To date, Mimoza credits being one of the top 6th finalists on YTV's "The Next Star" season 3 as one of her proudest and most memorable accomplishments. "The Next Star" really made this dream real for me. I've been singing all my life, competing and entering contests but being selected as a finalist for The Next Star helped me realize I could take this all the way!"

"The Next Star" not only propelled Mimoza's ambitions but increased her visibility and garnered a rave interest from producers, managers and writers who all wanted a piece of the bubbly young star. But her union with Juno winning production/songwriting partners in Gimme More Music, Meesah and Tyson Kuteyi (best known for their work with Keshia Chante, Shawn Desmond, Alyssa Reid, Knaan, Kardinal Offishall, etc…) was the winning match.

Mimoza's sound is an energetic pop explosion mixed with acoustic modern folk and a soulful twist. With a flawless voice she sings about life as a young woman as heard on her single "Love," a follow up to the release of "Insane" written and produced by Meesah and Tyson.With over 233,000 views of her music video "Insane" on VEVO, and her own Youtube channel sitting at 282,000 views, Mimoza doesn't fail to deliver. In addition to completing a Grade 5 level with the Conservatory of Music (with honors) she finds time to volunteer with her church choir as well as, nurture her acting, dancing, guitar, and piano playing talents, (she starred locally in "Cinderella" and "Sister Act") Mimoza can do it all!

Christmas 2010, Mimoza was invited back to Toronto to perform in a Christmas special aired on YTV, called "A Holly Jolly Christmas". The Next Star's Top 6 reunited to film a music video for the Christmas hit "All I Want For Christmas is You" (over 29,000 views on VEVO). The show was a big success and their fans were presently surprised to see them all back. The show's response was incredibly well received and Mimoza's fan base continues to grow.

She sings, "I may be young but I know about plenty, that what you give is what you get for so many, want you to care about the kid you go to school with, and show the world that it's all about Love..."

It's obvious that Mimoza has a heart for the needy, and "underdog" so to speak. Her heart is as big as her voice and she plans to make a difference.
